Club Meeting - Sunday 25th April 2021 - BBV Boat Ramp Proposal

Published Thu 22 Apr 2021

Better Boating Vic. (BBV) is currently are in the early stages of informing the public of a proposal to redevelop the area near the Newsom St walk bridge over the Maribyrnong River. The proposal is for the construction of a boat ramp and includes a carpark for about 20 cars/trailers and associated roadway to allow motorised boat access to and from the river.

Last night at our monthly committee meeting, the ERC committee voted unanimously to oppose the proposal by Better Boating Victoria (BBV) for the construction of a motorboat ramp and infrastructure on the Maribyrnong River at Newsom Street, Ascot Vale.

To ensure members are up-to-date and informed about the proposal, a meeting of Essendon Rowing Club members has been organised to be held this Sunday 25/4/21 at 12 noon at the club.

The meeting will be chaired by Tim Juzefowicz, President, and will explain details of what is known and answer questions raised related to this proposal. We will also have prepared a display board with information on the project so you have a visual understanding of the proposal.

Members are encourgaed to speak openly and constructively at the meeting as this will assist with strategy moving forward, and with discussions and representations with government and local action groups. If you are unable to attend, please ask someone to represent you or write your questions or objections so these can be heard.

A closing date for feedback to BBV is 4/5/21, so members are encouraged to attend this meeting and have their say on this important issue.
