2021 Henley on the Maribyrnong Regatta

It was a soggy day but successful 'Henley on the Mud' held on Sunday 21st March. While we could not the constant rain, we managed to host an exciting and enjoyable regatta for those in attendance. There were many impressive racing performances over the day with quite a few close races that came down to the last stroke to see who could win and seeing a bow ball win is awesome! Congratulations and thank you to all volunteers and athletes making HOM21 a great event.

The Lifesavers were also kept busy with 4 rescues, one broken oar, one rigger coming free, and two capsizes, and they assisted with buoy realignments.    

We had Deputy Mayor Cr. Katrina Hodgson visit ERC and see the exciting mixed eights final between Mercantile and Essendon. Mercantile too strong on the day for ERC but our rowers put up a great race. and it was great to see Essendon in eights racing as a highlight. 

There were so many people involved volunteering that made the day a success. including roads and traffic control, catering, pre-regatta course set-up, end of day pack up, marque set up, landing helpers, bow numbers, event management, regatta commentary ... the list goes on... 

Special thanks to all of members for helping on the day, especially:

Regatta Results

As well as HOM (above, ERC performed at Footscray's annual Saltwater Regatta. In contracts,c onditions on Saturday were fantastic and made for racing. 

For the weekend, ERC performed extremely well and managed to atke home an number of medals. Well done to all crews.

2021 Australian Rowing Championships

As we previously mentioned in earlier bulletins, we have a small squad of rowers competing at the Australian Rowing Championships at Lake Barrington, TAS.

Bruce Tregonning Visit

For all of our older members, Bruce' Butch' Tregonning will be at ERC this Friday 27th March from 5pm if you want to come down and say hello.

Bruce was a long serving member of ERC and his contributions include making the Kings Cup eight with Stuart Sherridan and was the coach of ERC's lightweight squad in the 1980's and 1990's, including coaching numerous lightweight Victorian Senior Championships an Australia Championship winning Senior B (U23) four in 1987.

Welocme back Bruce and hope visit to ERC brings back some old memories.

Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser

ERC will be hosting our next big fundraising event is a Bunnings BBQ to be held on Sunday 16th May at Maribyrnong Bunnings store and we are looking for expression of interest from our members to support the day.

Pie Drive Update

Orders have now closed for our Pie Drive.

Reminder to those who have ordered some amazing culinary delights from Tony's Pies that these can be collected from ERC on Friday 26th March 2021 at ERC.
