Female Changerooms Update.

ERC has recently received information from Moonee Valley City Council regarding our female changeroom project. MVCC will be submitting a proposal to the council for consideration to renovate both the male and female change rooms and the installation of a lift to allow access to the function area for those who cannot access via the stairs.

This is a very positive step for ERC and it is hoped that it is met favourably by council members when they meet on the 9th March.

Members will be notified of the outcome and further details surrounding these proposed changes to the club.

COVID Update - Regattas and Spectators.

As emailed during the week, RV has issued requirements for regattas and information related to regatta spectators. As a reminder:

We are pleased to announce that spectators will be permitted at the 2021 RV Junior Girls State Championship Regatta taking place in Geelong on Saturday, February 20. Rowing Victoria would like to encourage spectators to limit the amount of time spent at the regatta to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all.

Each school/ club is to nominate a COVIDSafe Marshal(s) for the management of their enclosure. If you have any queries, please reach out to Adam Harrison adam@rowingvictoria.asn.au Please familiarise yourself with the attached Spectator COVID Marshall Responsibilities.

Unfortunately, spectators will not be permitted at the 2021 Australian Henley Regatta. This is extremely unfortunate, yet we look forward to 2022 for a return to a bigger and better Australian Henley. As a reminder, as per the COVIDSafe Summer of restrictions guidelines, any outdoor public gathering with friends and family is limited to 20 people.

We wish all athletes competing over the weekend in Geelong, Melbourne and Ballarat all the very best.

Please note, following the announcement earlier from Facebook regarding restrictions being placed on news coverage, RV is unable to place community updates on both Facebook and Instagram. We have reached out to Facebook to overturn this decision and in the meantime, please keep across the RV website and your emails for updates and news.

Boogie Bounce with Sarah-Jane

Boogie Bounce, a start-up exercise business, have hired our clubroom to trial exercise classes, have started in our function area.

Please be aware that visitors will be in our club and using facilities so be mindful of your valuables on class days and times:- 

Mondays and Tuesdays - 10-10.45am, 11-11.45am and 12-12.45pm

Wednesdays and Thursdays - 9-9.45am, 10-10.45am and 11-11.45am

Club members are welcome to join.

Labor Day Get Together - Expression of Interest

With the labour day weekend not too far off, ERC members are encouraged to provide ideas for a suggested social gathering idea at ERC for Friday night, 5th March. Could be anything with the main idea to get members down to ERC for a bit of a social get together.

Henley on the Maribyrnong - HELP!!!!!

Over the last few bulletins, ERC has asked for members to reach out with assistance for traffic management for our HOM event and the silence has been deafening. :)

Traffic Management is one of the key roles in our regatta, to allow ERC to close the boulevard and allow safe passage across the road throughout the day.  Over the years ERC has paid for members to complete a traffic management course with the proviso that members volunteer for a shift at HOM and/or Saltwater regatta over the coming years.  The regatta simply isn't profitable without members undertaking this key role.  We are seeking members to undertake the course for this year's HOM, there are a number of courses running and could accommodate various availability.

Not the most glamorous task on the day, certainly the most crucial as without it we run eth risk of having traffic through the day. 

We are also seeking members to assist with planning for the day, including:

• Food stall coordinator
• Saturday night club dinner organiser

Ray Hammon - Celebration of a Life.

There was an error in the date for Ray's Celebration, please be advised that the celebration of Ray's life will be held on Sunday 11th April and not the 10th as previously advertised.

Due to Covid restrictions in 2020, Ray's family were unable to share the celebration of his life with ERC members, or rowing community. 

As such, Ray's family have now planned to celebrate his life on Sunday 11th April at ERC clubrooms. Further details will be sent out to members regarding this celebration.   

Notice to River Users

The Nillumbik & Whittlesea District Scouts will be holding their annual rafting event from Afton Street jetty through to The 15th Essendon Sea Scouts on Sunday 21st February 2021 between 09:00am and 12:00pm. Please be aware that there will be significant river traffic between these times.

Also, Dragon Boats Victoria will be holding an event from ERC clubrooms on Saturday 27th February from 08:00 till late afternoon in front of the shed. They will be using the last 2 kms of the Salt Water Challenge course and Henley straight. Members are requested to seek alternative training arrangements during this day.
