Henley on the Maribyrnong

The Henley on the Maribyrnong Regatta (HoM) is being held on Sunday March 25, 2018. It is a tightly contested sprint regatta over 350 metres and sees some of Australia's fastest racing. The regatta is run in conjunction with the Footscray Saltwater Regatta on Saturday March 25 and provides a great weekend of racing.

Stadium style seating allows a great view of the whole course which starts from the Maribyrnong Road bridge and finishes in front of our clubhouse.  Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a great day of racing and fun.  Our clubhouse and bar will be open all day, whilst the BBQ and cake stall are sure to provide some great home cooked food.

Annual Pre-Race Dinner

As part of our Henley on the Maribyrnong event, ERC will host a club dinner for members and competitors from clubs around the state. The dinner will be held in the club rooms on Saturday March 25th, the night before our regatta. Tickets are just $15 per person. 

Put this date in your diary and  invite your families and friends to join us for a great night of food and fun.  Tickets can be purchased online or over the bar.

PUBLIC NOTICE

DECLARATION OF BOATING ACTIVITY EXEMPTION

Parks Victoria as the declared waterway manager for the Maribyrnong River upstream of Shepherd Bridge on Footscray Road, makes the following declaration under section 203(3) of the Marine Safety Act 2010.

For the purpose of conducting the Henley on the Maribyrnong Regatta on the Maribyrnong River on Sunday 25 March 2018 between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, masters of participating vessels are exempt from:

1.         Clause 2(c) of the Notice under the Marine Act 1988 in respect to operating a vessel at a speed not exceeding 5 knots within 50 metres of another vessel.

2.         Clause 3(a) of the Notice under the Marine Act 1988 in respect to operating a vessel at a speed not exceeding 5 knots within 50 metres of the waters’ edge.

3.         Clause 3(b) of the Notice under the Marine Act 1988 in respect to operating a vessel at a speed not exceeding 5 knots within 50 metres of a fixed or floating structure.

4.         Clause 4.1 of Schedule 4 of the Notice under the Marine Act 1988 in respect to the 5 knot speed restriction on the waters of the Maribyrnong River.

This event is operating under the Rowing Victoria Safety Management Plan, which meets the criteria of Clause 3 of Exemption Notice 1. Therefore, rowers participating in the event will not be required to wear lifejackets and their vessels will not be required to carry lifejackets.

EXEMPTION CONDITIONS

The masters of participating support vessels must ensure they comply with the gazetted waterway rules and Marine Safety Act 2010 in respect to minimum speed and distances requirements, unless otherwise undertaking a rescue operation to retrieve persons in distress, provide for their initial medical or other needs and deliver them to a place of safety.

The exemptions apply from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on Sunday 25 March 2018 for the waters of the Maribyrnong River upstream of the Raleigh Road bridge for a length of one kilometre, provided that the stated safety controls and undertakings detailed in the Event Application and associated documentation are adhered to.
